Mariya Furman, Esq.

Attorney Mariya Furman is licensed to practice before all of the Courts of the State of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Case Illinois Institute of Art in 2004, Ms. Furman went on to attend Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. She was awarded her Juris Doctor degree in 2009.

After practicing as a criminal defense attorney for a few years, Mariya Furman co-founded Furman & Zavatsky in Encino, California, with a focus on representing clients in all types of Family Law matters in the Southern California area at Furman & Zavatsky office in Encino, California. Ms. Furman now practices Family Law exclusively.

Focusing her practice in family law, Ms. Furman represents clients in matters such as divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, spousal support and visitation. She also handles cases involving post-judgment modifications of custody and support, as well preparation of prenuptial agreements. Ms. Furman is also very experienced in cases involving domestic violence and she helped many clients in obtaining or defending against domestic violence restraining orders.

While fully prepared to be an aggressive litigator when necessary, Ms. Furman understand the negative financial and emotional impact that divorce litigation can have on the family, and especially on the children. Collaborative Divorce provides an opportunity for the divorcing couples to work cooperatively with one another to reach a creative solution that would benefit both sides, without going to court. Ms. Furman handles collaborative family law cases and has extensive experience in negotiating settlement agreements, as well as advising clients through a mediation process.

Ms. Furman has significant litigation and settlement experience. Her reputation is widely recognized throughout Los Angeles County. Mariya Furman was named by Los Angeles Magazine as a “Super Lawyer Rising Star” for the last two years in recognition for her superior legal skills. Ms. Furman is a member of the California State Bar Association and Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Lee Zavatsky, Esq.

Lee Zavatsky is a partner at Furman & Zavatsky, a law firm dedicated to the practice of Family Law. Mr. Zavatsky has been selected as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers, a professional organization composed of the top trial lawyers from each state or region who are under the age of 40. He is a member of the family law section of the State Bar of California.

Having successfully represented the interests of his clients in hundreds of divorce cases Mr. Zavatsky focuses his practice on all family law matters, including high asset divorces, child custody disputes, spousal support, and domestic violence restraining orders.

Mr. Zavatsky has represented clients in the most complex family law matters, including contested divorces, move-away cases, allegations of child abuse, allegations of domestic violence, and those involving forensic accounting.

Once a case has been filed, Mr. Zavatsky works to zealously represent his clients, and to develop a strategic plan. During divorce, this could include requesting temporary orders for child support, spousal support, or child custody, so that his clients do not have to wait until the case is over. When one spouse does not have access the other’s records, It can also include engaging in discovery to obtain the right documents to convince the other side of a settlement.

Receptive to the needs of his clients, Mr. Zavatsky was selected as one of the 10 Best Family Law Attorneys for Client Satisfaction by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys. He has also received the Client’s Choice Award from AVVO. He has represented a variety of clientele, including professionals, business owners, entertainers, and corporate executives.

Mr. Zavatsky earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
